Hey Reader, As I prepare to celebrate another year of life in a couple of weeks, I’ve found myself reflecting on the past season. Last October, I fully anticipated it would be one of my best years. And although this season has been full of beautiful moments, there were also challenges I never anticipated having to navigate. These challenges weren't physical or financial. They were battles concerning my identity in Christ and my purpose, and they tried to shake my confidence in things I'd been certain God had established. But I remember the day it all began to change. One morning while journal praying through a particularly difficult situation, I wrote how I felt and how deeply some of those words had affected me. As I sat there writing, I sensed the Lord speaking to my heart through a verse that suddenly dropped into my spirit:
"It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'" Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) “Rachel, you are to live by every word that proceeds from My mouth concerning you, not theirs.” It was like the sound of a gavel striking the chambers of my heart. That moment put me back on track. It didn’t mean the struggle suddenly disappeared or that the words being spoken no longer existed. But I had something greater to anchor myself to. His Word. In Matthew 4:4, Jesus was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3, where Moses reminds the Israelites that God had allowed them to experience hunger in the wilderness and then provided manna so they would learn that their lives depended on more than physical provision. They needed to learn to depend on every word that came from God. And isn't that something we need to remember too? There will be seasons when what people say about us, what circumstances seem to suggest, and even what we begin telling ourselves can become louder than what God has already said. But we cannot allow those voices to become the authority by which we live. Words have power, but the Word of God has greater power. As I prepare to enter a time of rest this weekend, I'm choosing to sit with this truth a little longer. I'm reflecting on the ways God has used His Word to correct my thinking, strengthen my heart, and remind me of what is true when other voices have tried to convince me otherwise. And I want to invite you to do the same. Is there something someone has said about you that you've begun to believe? Is there a situation that has caused you to question what God has already spoken through His Word? Have you allowed another person's assumptions, opinions, or even your own fears to take up more space in your mind than the truth of Scripture? This weekend, bring those things before the Lord and allow His Word to speak into them. Don't just read Scripture to get through a chapter. Spend time understanding what God has said, remembering His truth, and allowing it to shape how you think and live. Because the Word we study in quiet moments is often the very Word the Holy Spirit brings to our remembrance in difficult ones. So this Weekend in the Word, don't just pick up the Word. Remember it, meditate on it, and live by it. And remember, time with God is time you will never regret spending.

Hey Reader, For the last two weeks, we've been talking about The Return. We started by talking about those seasons when life gets busy, our rhythms change, and we suddenly recognize a distance in our time with God. Last week, I shared one of the ways I intentionally return when I recognize that distance in my own life. I do something I call a seeking, an intentional time when I remove distractions, create more space, and commit myself to seeking and hearing from God. This week, I want to talk...
