Weekend in the Word

Reader, I’ve been pondering a simple question this week: How do we return when life has crowded out the space we once guarded for God? Not because we stopped loving Him, but because life got loud, rhythms got disrupted, and before we knew it, what once felt protected began to feel crowded.

And maybe the deeper question underneath that is this: How do we slow down enough to sit in surrender?

I think it begins by recognizing that sometimes the greatest noise is not around us, but within us. The inner noise of worry, unfinished tasks, disappointments, and distractions that quietly compete for our attention and derail our peace.

And maybe the answer is simpler than we make it.

Surrender again.

This weekend, I want to give you one invitation, feast on the Word.

Open your Bible. Read slowly. Let prayer rise naturally. Sit in silence for a few moments before the Lord. Rest.

Reader, some things you are carrying cannot be solved this weekend, only surrendered. It may be time to release control, quiet your heart, and allow the Word to reset your mind to the mind of Christ.

In 1 Corinthians 2:16, Paul reminds us, “But we have the mind of Christ.” In context, he is speaking about the Spirit helping believers discern the things of God in a way natural reasoning cannot. What a gift. When life feels noisy and our thoughts feel scattered, we are not left to process everything through anxiety or human understanding alone. In Christ, we can think with renewed perspective.

So this weekend, let the Word steady your thoughts, quiet the inner noise, and lead you back into surrender.

Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Sometimes being still is not passive at all. It is trust.

So if your rhythms have been off, don’t spend this weekend trying to catch up.

Just return.

Silence the noise. Feed your soul. Sit in surrender.

And let that be your reset.

With you in the Word,

We talk about enduring faith, suffering well, and how God uses even pressure to deepen perseverance. If your soul needs steadying, let it minister to you as you feast on the Word.

Hey Reader, If you’ve been around for a while, you may remember me talking about the difference between purpose and assignment. It’s something that’s been on my heart for a long time. And lately, it’s been coming back up again, so I want to sit with you in it for a bit today. I’ve always defined purpose as fulfilling the Great Commission—making disciples, telling people the truth about who Jesus is, and bringing souls to Christ. That part is the same for all of us. No matter your role, your...

Hey Reader, Lately, I’ve been noticing something I can’t ignore anymore. Since going back to teaching full-time two years ago, I still haven’t found a rhythm that truly works. Most days feel scattered as I move from one responsibility to the next, until Friday finally arrives and everything slows down. And if I’m honest, that lack of rhythm hasn’t just impacted me. It’s affected how I show up in every area of my life. Maybe you know that feeling too. You’re doing what needs to be done. You’re...
