Hey Reader, It feels good to be writing a Weekend in the Word email again. The past few weeks have been full. Good, meaningful, ministry-filled weeks, but full nonetheless. I’ve had the privilege of connecting with so many people and experiencing beautiful moments but if I’m honest, the last couple of weekends didn’t bring the level of rest I’ve grown accustomed to. And I can feel it. Weekends have quietly become a weekly reset for me. Not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally too. They are a moment to step back, breathe, and allow the Lord to recalibrate what the week may have pulled out of alignment. Now with daylight savings shifting the rhythm of the days for some of us, it almost feels like an hour of rest gets taken from us for a moment. But the truth is, rest isn’t something the clock ultimately controls. It’s something God built into creation itself. From the very beginning, God established a rhythm of work and pause, movement and stillness. That reset wasn’t optional. It was intentional. I know this in my own life. When I don’t take time to reset, I begin to notice it. I start to overconsume in different areas. My mind runs faster, my patience shortens, and the fruit being produced in my life isn’t always the fruit I want to share with others. The pause is just as necessary as the movement. So this weekend, I want to gently invite you into that pause. You may not be able to step away for an entire day, and that’s okay. But find a pocket of time to simply stop. Sit with the Lord. Open His Word. Listen. You likely need it more than you realize. Because when pause becomes a rhythm, surrender becomes a rhythm too. And surrender is something busyness constantly tries to eliminate. As you take that moment this weekend, I’d love for you to spend a little time with the teaching we just began in Thessalonians. While you listen, ask what God is saying, what He has already said, and what He may be inviting you to see in a new way. Let this weekend be your reset.

Hey Reader, If you’ve been around for a while, you may remember me talking about the difference between purpose and assignment. It’s something that’s been on my heart for a long time. And lately, it’s been coming back up again, so I want to sit with you in it for a bit today. I’ve always defined purpose as fulfilling the Great Commission—making disciples, telling people the truth about who Jesus is, and bringing souls to Christ. That part is the same for all of us. No matter your role, your...
Hey Reader, Lately, I’ve been noticing something I can’t ignore anymore. Since going back to teaching full-time two years ago, I still haven’t found a rhythm that truly works. Most days feel scattered as I move from one responsibility to the next, until Friday finally arrives and everything slows down. And if I’m honest, that lack of rhythm hasn’t just impacted me. It’s affected how I show up in every area of my life. Maybe you know that feeling too. You’re doing what needs to be done. You’re...
